Flowers make us happy. Of course, that’s common sense - it’s hard to hide that excitement when we’re given a bunch.
But now the research is there (literally) that flowers have a long-term positive effect on our mood. The humble flora is found to nurture our emotional well-being, helping us feel less depressed, anxious and agitated.
Those leafy things are an apt addition to any room, because they bring about positive emotional feelings in those who enter a room, make the space more welcoming and create a ‘sharing atmosphere’.
Basically, flowers are a natural and healthful moderator of moods and fittingly, Australia’s national mental health symbol is the flannel flower.
And if all those words were too much for you, just go to this diagram.
