I spent a month travelling through India and Nepal in January last year with my gorgeous and mischievousness friend Anne.  It was a sensually indulgent trip, that’s for sure.

It was like life itself was playing a heady, frantic tune in my ears with the overriding drone of horns marking beats. I got dizzy trying to inhale the layers of life that unfolded before me. It was vivid, dazzling and joyous: shining silk, glistening bangles and fresh bright vegetables laid on the side of the road like an intricate patchwork quilt.

The air there felt thick, as though swarming with invisible ecosystems of its own. This sensation was symphonised by the commotion in my nose. I sniffed greedily at the teasing bursts of garam masala and ginger that danced in the air.

While I cling to these memories and save the pennies for a second trip, let’s make our homes just that little bit inspired by India. Focus on faded fluro , intricate patterns and glimmers of gold. Here’s how:
