There’s nothing worse in the world of interiors than a room with no soul. How does this happen? The furniture package deal!
Avoid the temptation of buying matching furniture because, despite its ease, it can often look bland, impersonal and cold.
The alternative? Listen to your gut instinct and choose your favourite pieces from different shops. Remember, anything you truly love will never go out of style.
The tips:
Set the foundation with basic furniture items from places like Ikea where designs are affordable, classic and simple. Then, bring in colour, pattern and texture with furnishings, fabrics and finds and tie together using similar tones. Don’t be shy of going second-hand – you can often find unique, one-off pieces at a fair price in vintage shops. Finally, remember the rule: mix don’t match and you’ll be on your way to a room full of soul.

These photos are so inspiring! i especially liked the second one, and the lamps in the third one!
Gorgeous pictures. Couldn’t agree more. 99-percent of my furniture is vintage or antiques passed down in the family. Separately, it would look questionable. Together the pieces evoke so many good memories and create that eclectic look I couldn’t live without.
it sounds gorgeous, and much more special than the package suit!!

Wandering around on WordPress I discovered your blog and I’m glad to see people that have strong minded ideas about interiors, I like your unconventional style and mix of almost everything. That is what I like to do and create something personal.
Bravo to you.
