I get lazy with what I wear in summer, opting for ‘practical’ and light-to-wear options (a.k.a shift dresses with not much style about them!). But as soon as the cooler autumn weather rolls around, I always get inspired to try a bit harder with what I wear.
Autumn is a perfect time to experiment with your look – not bound by the heat of summer or cold of winter that force (some of us at least) to forget about fashion and go for comfort over everything.
It’s a chance to layer, with chunky knits and fitted blazers fun to throw on over our summer shorts, skits and dresses. I’m a massive skirt girl, so introducing these in thicker fabrics with long-sleeved tops is what I lean towards.
My fashion favourites this season are cute pleated skirts (think thick fabrics in soft colours), crisp white shirts, lots of texture, paired with relaxed, wavy hair. Forget about the fluro trend often in stores in summer – this autumn is a move back to pastels, black and white – feminine, minimal and easy to mix and match (and what I try to base my wardrobe on).
Take a look at these autumn fashion trends below and many more outfit here.
And a few from my style crush, the uber stylish Christine Centenera – Fashion Director at Vogue Australia (because who wouldn’t want her wardrobe for any season of the year?!). I love the way she pairs structured separates and strong shapes, always looking elegant and effortless.
