Dulux reveals Autumn 2018’s colour trends

It’s time to get inspired for the season ahead with Dulux’s Autumn 2018 colour trends!

It might not seem like it with this blast of long, hot summer days we’re having, but autumn is just around the corner. To mark the occasion, colour authority Dulux has released its colour trends for the season ahead and, I’ve got to say, it’s the epitome of ‘autumn’!

We saw four key colours themes identified in the Dulux 2018 Colour Trends Forecast, and the autumn palette is straight out of there.

The ‘Kinship‘ palette exudes warmth, pairing earthy and rich hues with cosy neutral shades. It’s inspired by traditional cultures and folklore, which sees this palette working well with tribal-inspired, textured decor and furniture formed by traditional crafts such as wood turning, knitting and sewing.

In terms of colours, think terracotta, russet, soft grey-greens, cosy neutrals and pops of vibrant red that hint at an Eastern influence. Then bring in earthy, natural materials like warm timbers, stone and linens.

I actually MC’d a fun Dulux 2018 Colour Trends & Styling Masterclass for Metricon last year (see other upcoming events here!) where Dulux Colour Expert Andrea Lucena-Orr shared her insights into this palette.

She tells us that whether we choose to go ‘out-all’ with these deeper shades or just add a few touches here and there, the key is to pair them with a complementary white or neutral that boasts similar undertones to create balance.

Dulux Natural White, for example, is a warm white that sits beautifully alongside the pinkish and heathery hues of Maiko and Time Capsule, whilst Dulux White on White is a cooler white that ensures deeper shades such as Dulux Very Terracotta pop.

Let’s take a look!
