Melburnians now have a new destination for Scandinavian design with the launch of the much-anticipated funkis store!
Located in The Strand Melbourne (which is fresh from a $20 million redevelopment), funkis offers fashion-forward clothing, home-wares, accessories and interiors.
The team say they’ve been been waiting for the right retail space to showcase their artists and designs to Melburnians. The city’s progressive demographic is a perfect fit for funkis, whose philosophy is all about timeless design, functionality and sustainability.
In fact, funkis only manufactures in Sweden and Australia and has developed a program to become carbon neutral , uses 100% accredited green power and has implemented a ‘no plastic’ garment packaging policy. The products themselves are just as green, with funkis’s trademark fashion, clogs and sandals handmade from sustainable plantation timber and natural veggie dyed leather.
The company’s philosophies also translates into the new store, with every step of production focused on sustainable creation and minimising their environmental footprint.
Included in funkis’ diverse mix is clothing from Marimekko, ATP and cult Swedish label Rodebjer as well as home-wares from the likes of Normann Copenhagen, Tom Dixon, Lindform and Thorbergs Reading Glasses.
