Get In My Home

New collection from Scandinavia’s biggest design house, Ferm Living

I am a sucker for Scandinavian design. But let me make this clear: when I say Scandinavian design, I mean the true form that is full of integrity from its Danish roots, not the cheap, over-saturated, imitation Scandi pieces that are flooding the market. To us at getinmyhome, the markers of good design stand is that it makes us feel something and isn’t disposable.

If like me, you love beautiful quality design that has soul, you may also love ferm LIVING. It is contemporary, and influenced by midcentury beauty, while focusing on craftsmanship, honest materials, a keen eye for detail and sustainable design.

The biggest stockist of ferm LIVING products here in Australia, the awesome Designstuff.com.au, has just dropped its latest collections for the home and the kids rooms. And what a good fit! Designstuff are all about products that are more than just beautiful: each piece they stock must be rich in integrity, made from the finest materials and crafted with skill. It is also a Scandinavian focused online store, which was created in Melbourne by Danish-born Christina Fedders.

And guess what? Designstuff have given the getinmyhome community the first preview of the new ferm Living pieces, which have this raison d’être:

It’s that certain scent, a familiar atmosphere, walls that know your name. So much more than just a place, the home is where we feel at ease. It’s where we are who we are. It’s the space that lets us grow into who we wish to become.

In the new collection, we’ll find an exploration of volumes, geometry, graphical elements, and a touch of Nordic decadence. I adore the softness of the Hush baby range, and the punchy colours of the Fruiticana toys and cushions for older kids, which are inspired by the delight of exploring new, faraway places. And, with terrazzo being one of my current aesthetic obsessions, the pieces inspired by this look are my stand outs.

And while we can certainly introduce some of the kids pieces into grown up rooms, there is a range specifically for us older ones too. The luxurious Febrik-velour upholstered poufs, the hooks and knobs made with stunning semi-precious stones and brass, and the earthy, unglazed Sekki stoneware series all have that understated freshness we love from classic Scandi-driven designs.

Now, jump in and take a look below and shop up the new ferm LIVING range here!
