Zuster: all class at Denfair 2017

There is no denying that I am a big fan of the strong, masculine, and very sensual aesthetic that is Zuster.

I covered the Australian furniture brand’s Embellish range back in April. So, fast forward to June, seeing these pieces ‘in real life’ was quite the treat, and made possible thanks to the incredible design show that is Denfair.

In fact, Zuster was the first stand I saw after walking into the huge space at the Melbourne Convention Centre. Plush ,jewel toned velvet, an imposing leather reading chair and – what feels like to me – their signature ‘gothic-esque’ aesthetic with the moody colours, brass studding, and metals.

Run by sisters Fleur Sibbel and Wilhelmina McCarroll, Zuster works in close collaboration with Australian artisans. You can see in the images below the handles crafted by a glass blower in Healesville and the stunning Palomino Quartzite and Golden Forrest Marble sourced locally.

The textures, grains and craftsmanship mean that Zuster’s made to order pieces really are heirloom treasures to hand down to future generations. Take a look…
